Ausfarm pays all employees as per the Horticultural Award 2010. They are paid weekly via electronic transfer with payslips provided.  All employees are employed under a contract with Ausfarm directly.

Ausfarm's objective in establishing a safe and comfortable  environment includes setting some standards for workplace dress code. Because our industry requires highly visible clothing and PPE, a standard dress code is necessary for everyone. All Ausfarm employees are required to wear HI-VIZ, including wet weather gear, at all times while onsite.

Employees must wear suitable safety footwear at all times and gum boots when appropriate.

Ausfarm will, as far as practicable, provide a safe work environment for the health, safety and welfare of our employees, contractors, visitors and members of the public, who may be affected by our work.

To do this, Ausfarm will:

  • Develop and maintain safe systems of work, and a safe working environment

  • Consult with employees and health and safety reps on safety

  • Provide protective clothing and equipment, and enforce its use

  • Provide information and training for employees

  • Assess all risks before work starts on new areas of operation, eg, buying new equipment and setting up new work methods, and
    regularly review these risks

  • Remove unacceptable risks to safety

Ultimately, everyone at the workplace is responsible for ensuring health and safety at that workplace.  All persons responsible for the work activities of other employees are accountable for:

  • Identifying practices and conditions that could injure employees, clients, members of the public or the environment

  • Controlling such situations or removing the risk.  If unable to control such practices and conditions, report these to their Manager

  • Making sure workers use personal protective equipment (PPE) and train workers to use PPE correctly

  • Making sure PPE is maintained and in safe working order

Ausfarm demands a positive, proactive attitude and performance with respect to protecting health, safety and the environment by all employees, irrespective of their position.

All potential workers will have Reference and Right to Work in Australia checks carried out prior to being offered a position, along with Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) checks with the Federal Department of Home Affairs, for every foreign national before the commencement of their employment.

If anyone should fail Reference, Right to Work in Australia or VEVO checks, they will not be given a position with Ausfarm.
